About

Who We Are

Queen City Model Yacht Club (QCMYC) is American Model Yachting Association (AMYA) Sanctioned Club #342 located in the Charlotte, North Carolina area. We have 30 active members that are a mix of various ages and backgrounds. We get together to sail and race radio controlled model yachts. Our club is open to all skippers (and potential skippers) of all ages and experience ... from novice to expert. While a general knowledge of sailing is helpful, it is not necessary to begin to enjoy this fun hobby.

Members meet most Saturday's, Sunday's and Wednesday's around 10 AM ET (weather permitting) at Pineville Lake/Belle Johnston Park (south of Charlotte - see location tab for map and directions). We get together to discuss various yachting topics, racing strategy and compete with each other. A good time to meet new friends and learn more about sailing. Stop by any Saturday to check out the boats being sailed and learn more about sailing remote controlled model racing yachts.

Contact Us to request more information or if you are ready to join our club check out our Membership page.

What We Sail

While a number of our members have multiple boats our primary boat is the Kyosho Seawind. The SeaWind model sailboat is a 1-meter replica of a 1980’s America's Cup yacht, distributed by Kyosho America is located in California.
